Одна из характеристик начертания [вариант рисунка шрифта, входящий в одну гарнитуру]. Угол наклона знаков относительно линии шрифта [воображаемая линия, на которой располагаются буквы]. По положению очка наборные шрифты делятся на прямые и наклонные (см. прямые [начертание в котором основные штрихи расположены вертикально] и наклонные [механически или программно наклоненный шрифт, не отличается строением букв от прямого начертания] начертания). В шрифтах латиницы [алфавит A..Z - латинская система письма] и кириллицы [славянская азбука, которая легла в основу русского , болгарского, македонского и др языков] с направлением письма слева направо наклонные (курсивные [наклонное начертание шрифта с рукописной формой строчных букв]) начертания обычно наклонены вправо, поэтому правый наклон считается прямым. Левый наклон встречается очень редко (главным образом в картографических шрифтах) и считается обратным. В шрифтах с направлением письма справа налево (арабских, еврейских) нормальным может считаться левый наклон, хотя это и необязательно.
